Jordaens Exhibition (opening in 2011, The Triumph of Bacchus, 1593-1678)
In the case of the ‘Triumph of Bacchus’, for example, Jordaens (1593-1678) changed the composition halfway through. He enlarged the format.
We studied his other works with the museum’s art historians, and noticed he had made a habit of it: he changed the format during the painting phase. This work represents 200-250 hours of work.”

About the work of a restorer
“A restorer can dedicate many days to the same work of art. Afterwards, it is sometimes difficult to leave it and let go.
That’s why we often go and “visit” the works on the walls of the museums. Admiring them in context is a very touching, emotional experience. The works evolve, change in the presence of the other paintings. It’s completely different from what you see in the workshop: in the museum, paintings truly reach their full nobleness and potential.”
