Webbekom es una subdivisión de Diest. Webbekom fue un municipio independiente hasta la reorganización municipal de 1970. Desde muy temprano, Webbekom, junto con Zelem, Schaffen, Linkhout, Donk y Halen, pertenecía a la abadía de San Trond. La parroquia de Webbekom se formó alrededor del año 800 y también abarcaba la "capellanía" de Assent hasta finales del siglo XVIII.
