We starten aan parking 'Aanwijs' in de Reigerlostraat in Beernem en steken de N370 of Reigerlostraat over naar de Vagevuurbossen. De wandeling is ruim 9 km lang en niet geschikt voor rolstoelen, maar wel te doen met buggy's.
Het Vagevuurbos is 251 hectare groot en wordt beheerd door Natuur en Bos. Het vormt samen met het nabije Lippensgoed-Bulskampveld (90 ha van het ANB en 287 ha van de provincie West-Vlaanderen) het grootste boscomplex van de provincie West-Vlaanderen (628 ha)
De meeste wandelaars vind je in het provinciaal domein Bulskampveld, waar een bezoekerscentrum en cafetaria te vinden zijn. In de Vagevuurbossen vind je meer rust en ‘echte’ natuurbeleving.
In het Vagevuurbos zijn in het kader van het natuurinrichtingsproject Biscopveld belangrijke natuurherstelwerken uitgevoerd.
