The
Nazis were concerned about the church tower of Diegem. In
1943, Diegem was a small village near the airport of Zaventem, Belgium.
It bothered the Nazis because airplanes might hit the tower taking off
for their flight to bomb England. Therefore, the Nazis removed the tower stone by stone, carefully ordered, so it could be rebuilt afterwards. That job was done on 28 oktober 1951. Source : Erfgoed Vlaanderen |
