Dit is een bosgebied van ongeveer 250 ha, dat ooit door de paters van de Boudelo-abdij werd aangelegd met als bedoeling een drainagesysteem te creëren om de moerassen droog te leggen en deze te kunnen bewerken als landbouwgrond. Als bosgebied is het nog een waardevol geheel, maar de natuurlijke waarde is beïnvloed door de aanleg van een waterwinningsgebied.
