Milford Lane get''s you to the bottom of the Milford steps. Before they built the embankment, the river was coming almost up to these steps. Boats were bringing the goods here, and they were carried up the steps. Now it is a respectable road, but before, in Victorian times, thiefs were hiding in this street to steel the goods.
