De Hebriden vormen een uitgestrekte groep eilanden voor de westkust van Schotland met een totale oppervlakte van 7285 km². De groep bestaat uit circa 500 eilanden waarvan circa 100 bewoond worden. De grootste eilanden zijn Lewis en Skye .
Tot 1266 maakte de eilandengroep deel uit van het Noorse koninkrijk, maar na afloop van de Schots-Noorse Oorlog, bij het Verdrag van Perth, werden ze aan Schotland overgedragen. De Hebriden vormen het centrum van het Schots-Gaelische taalgebied.
