Around Heers

A whole series of villages along this route in the far south of Limburg lie on the language border and on the border with the province of Liège. The municipality of Heers alone has twelve villages. Some of them you can explore during this route. Here lives also Elisabeth, the lady who plays the main role in the VRT series Katarakt, which has been aired since the end of 2006. The recordings began during the exploration of these cycling routes. We won't reveal the story, but you may know that you will cycle through various landscapes where Elisabeth also knows her way.

Quiet roads in rural areas with little traffic. Of course, one must be careful on busier traffic roads.

Parking lot at Delhaize, Nieuwe Steenweg 42 in Heers. The entrance to the parking lot is at the chapel of Our Lady of Scherpenheuvel.

In the immediate vicinity, you cannot rent bicycles. The nearest places to rent bicycles are Borgloon, Sint-Truiden, and Tongeren.

The Herren von Heers, Nieuwe Steenweg 57, 3870 Heers (on the opposite side of the starting point), 011 48 20 07. This tavern not only serves delicious snacks and drinks, but you can also study the local dialect in detail.
