Zuunbeekroute

From the former power position of the glory of Gaasbeek, about fifteen kilometers west of Brussels, hardly anything remains today. Today, Gaasbeek is part of the municipality of Lennik. In terms of natural beauty, however, Gaasbeek and the surrounding villages and hamlets (Oudenaken, Elingen, Beert, Pepingen, Kester, and Bellingen) still have a lot to offer. The Zuunbeek and the numerous streams and little rivers that lead their water there have together created a series of wonderful valleys. In these valleys, the meadows dominate, occasionally interrupted by plantations of fast-growing poplars. On the fertile clay slopes, agriculture plays a major role. Even today, some impressive square farms significantly contribute to the image of Pajottenland.

SAFETY
Large parts of the route run along quiet agricultural roads. Caution is advised on the busier streets and intersections.
Predominantly paved roads; some sections with cobblestones. Not traffic-calmed anywhere.
