Description by the author

Weerde 10 miles over Zemst-Laar. Departure and arrival at Station Weerde (café De Rut), but you can start the loop at any location.
This is a rural and very low-traffic loop. It takes you past several (small) chapels in the field, very beautiful views along vast fields, a beautiful village view of Zemst-Laar, but it also takes you along beautiful avenues and a castle (Hoeve 'Hombeek'). See the POIs.

The difference with the 10Mi over Zemst-Bos is that this loop runs briefly on Mechelen's territory (Hombeek) and that (mainly from Hombeek over Zemst-Laar) there are some strips on unpaved paths and arable roads. In very wet weather (wet autumn, winter) some strips ideal for cross-country runners or mountain bikers, or if you also like some variety. If you absolutely do not want any wetness or mud strips, do this loop in dry weather.
In any case, this loop is still a bit more rural than the 10Mi over Zemst-Bos due to the chosen paths.

The departure from Weerde station (ample parking) is northwards; take the towpath on the left bank on the T and the Zennever discount on the left bank. Be careful when crossing the Brusselsesteenweg! (keep following the towpath).
At the Eglegem pond immediately left and follow the pond on your right until you reach the parking lot of the Mechelen Tennis and Hockey Club. You take this parking on the left and you stay on the clinkers / crushed stone between the sports accommodation. You can do a pit-stop and have a drink in the cafeteria, or enjoy an outdoor hockey game!
You will pass the indoor tennis courts and the hockey field above. You follow this to the left (vowels along the field) and you come north via a field road on the Zemstseweg.
There on the left, and a little further in the bend immediately the first right (field road) to the north. Turn left at the first house and follow this path to the end (Oude Bankstraat). Then twice on the left (into Kattestraat) and a little further on the first cul-de-sac on the right (Tantelaarstraat) which turns into a field road.
At the end, take the right (turn north one last time) and then left twice (into Walestraat). This is a cobblestone road, so take the roadside in case of balance problems. At the transition to asphalt you are in Zemst-Laar.
At the T (Vennestraat) take the right, then the left (Lareveenstraat), which gives you a beautiful view of the Sint-Bernarduskerk to the south.
Cross the Humbeekseweg (Spiltstraat), and take the slow road on the left to the Kerremansheide district. At the end of this district back south, a field road that ends in the Larestraat. Pass Nayakker and the Singelweg, and then continue to follow the southern direction of the Lindestraat (Beware, cross Vilvoordsesteenweg!) and at the end take the path to the Zenneverkorting, Take at the towpath on the right, at the Damstraat on the left over the Zenneverkorting, and then immediately back on the left (Achterbroeken). 100m before the last house you follow the row of trees on the right, you can go through a tree stump over the canal to Limietvoetweg which you follow on the left.
A little further you take the first field road on the right to the Heidestraat. There on the right and after 50m you take a slow road on the left between the houses you follow up to and along the railway line (along horse pastures). At the Damstraat you take two left to arrive at your starting point.

You have covered the 16.09km between the railway verges when the asphalted cycle path leaves the cobblestone road on the left.
