Moorsel

Between Aalst and Asse lies the Faluintjes region. The abbey of Affligem is inseparably linked to the region. The sub-municipality of Meldert is known for its sandstone, which has been used in many churches even beyond national borders. With the Kravaal forest, the region still has an extensive remnant of the former coal forest. Additionally, you walk along paths and church paths from hamlet to hamlet. Small-scale farm worker housing is scattered throughout the diverse landscape. The hike leads along a beautiful water castle back to Moorsel.

STARTING POINT
You can reach the church of Moorsel from Brussels via the N9 to Asse. 1 km behind Asse, take the N47 towards Dendermonde. After 5 km, turn left onto the N411 towards Aalst. After 5 km, you will reach the center of Moorsel. From Ghent, take the E40 at exit 19-Aalst. At the ring road, turn right, after the Dender bridge turn left again, and at the first church, turn right onto the N411. After 3 km, you will reach Moorsel center.

Asphalt and dirt paths, interspersed with paved paths; forest paths in the Kravaal forest; busy road to the abbey of Affligem.

ACCESSIBILITY
Impossible for buggies and wheelchairs; dogs must be leashed in the Kravaal forest; muddy field paths after prolonged rain.
