Description by the author

The route follows the Canal to just after Digoin.

The route then follows the D779 to Diou where you join the velo route on the old railway track to Bourbon Lancy. The roads ony carried light traffic.

There would appear to be a considerable amout of work being undertaken to open up the canal path between Digoin and Diou for cyclists. Some of it seemed finished (July 2009) so perhaps next year sections may be open.

We stayed in the Chambre D'hote La Tourelle du Beffroi. Very good. (www.latourelle.net). Had a drink in the square followed by dinner at "Grinotte" just around the corner. Lovely way to end the day.
