Die Bad Hersfelder Festspiele finden alljährlich von Anfang Juli bis Anfang September in Bad Hersfeld statt. Das „Salzburg des Nordens“ ist dadurch auch überregional bekannt.
Auf der 1400 m² großen Bühne in der Stiftsruine werden Schauspiel, Musical sowie Theateraufführungen für die ganze Familie gezeigt. Die gepolsterte Bestuhlung bietet 1636 Zuschauern Platz. Das mobile Dach über dem Zuschauerraum der Stiftsruine macht Aufführungen bei jedem Wetter möglich. Zudem wird ein komödiantisches Theaterstück auf einer Freilichtbühne im Innenhof des Schlosses Eichhof aufgeführt.
