Das Moesgaard Museum wurde 1970 gegründet. Es besitzt eine reichhaltige archäologische Sammlung , darunter Masken- und Runensteine, die Moorleiche des Grauballemanns und der eisenzeitliche Hortfund aus dem Illerup Ådal.
Zunächst waren die Ausstellungen im herrschaftlichen Rahmen von Gut Moesgård untergebracht, südlich von Aarhus in Jütland, Dänemark.
Im Oktober 2014 wurde in direkter Nachbarschaft ein imposanter Neubau von Henning Larsen Architects mit einem großen, begehbaren Gründach eingeweiht.
Er stellt 16.000 m² zur Verfügung.
