Im Kastilischen Erbfolgekrieg, der von 1474 bis 1479 andauerte, ging es um die Nachfolge von Heinrich IV. von Kastilien. Die beiden Thronprätendenten waren Heinrichs mutmaßliche Tochter Johanna von Kastilien sowie seine Halbschwester Isabella mit ihrem Ehemann Ferdinand, die ihren Anspruch schließlich durchsetzen konnten. Durch das Eingreifen Portugals und Frankreichs bekam der Konflikt internationale Bedeutung.
