La Columna de Trajano es un monumento erigido en Roma para celebrar la conquista de Dacia por parte del emperador Trajano, evocando todos los momentos destacados de esa expansión territorial. La celda que hay en su base tenía la función de sepulcro para los restos del emperador. Se trata de la primera columna cóclida erigida en la historia y estaba situada en el Foro de Trajano, en un pequeño patio detrás de la Basílica Ulpia, entre dos bibliotecas, donde una doble logia a ambos lados facilitaba su lectura.
