La battaglia di Turnhout ebbe luogo il 27 ottobre 1789 e segnò l'inattesa vittoria di una colonna di patrioti al comando del Van der Mersch, che sconfisse due battaglioni imperiali al comando del maggiore generale Schröder. Pur priva di rilevanti conseguenze militari, essa mise in moto gli eventi che portarono alle successive insurrezioni di Gand e di Bruxelles, che determinarono il temporaneo successo della rivoluzione del Brabante e l'effimera indipendenza dei Paesi Bassi austriaci.
