La chiesa del Carmelo è un luogo di culto situato nel centro storico di Alghero, a ridosso delle fortificazioni spagnole. Consacrata al culto cattolico, fa parte della parrocchia dell'Immacolata Concezione nella diocesi di Alghero-Bosa.
La fondazione della chiesa, ufficialmente il 12 dicembre 1644, coincide con quella del vecchio convento e fu opera di due carmelitani catalani, Briòs e Brunacho che, grazie ai lasciti e alle donazioni della gente del posto, acquistarono tre edifici attigui, poi trasformati in un grande spazio religioso comprendente chiesa e convento - quest'ultimo non più esistente a causa di un incendio che lo distrusse nel 1889.
