Das Gschnitztal ist ein westliches, linkes Seitental des Tiroler Wipptals in Österreich. Es zweigt bei Steinach am Brenner ab. Am Taleingang überquert es die 674 m lange Gschnitztalbrücke der nach Süden laufenden Brennerautobahn. Die Gschnitztal-Landesstraße führt zunächst unter dieser Brücke durch und mit einer maximalen Steigung von 11 % über Trins und Gschnitz Richtung Talschluss, der durch die Laponesalm gebildet wird. Die Straße endet bereits in Obertal , wo der Sandesbach, von Süden kommend, in den Gschnitzbach mündet.
