Le constructeur du château était Johann Gaudenz von Capol, marié à Amalie von Schorsch von Splügen. Johann Gaudenz, avec Adalbert Ludwig de Latour, était le chef du nouveau parti français de la Ligue supérieure vers 1700-1706 et le chef des troupes réformées pendant le commerce de légende. À partir de 1682, le Schlössli a servi de siège familial à la famille Capol, remplaçant l’ancien bâtiment parent, l’actuel Hôtel Bellevue, construit en 1577. Gaudenz de Capol mourut sans descendance lors d’une réunion à la mairie. Le château passa à sa nièce Maria, fille de son frère Hercule de Capol. Maria était l’épouse de Hercule Dietrich von Salis-Seewis.
Jusqu’en 1853, le château appartenait à la famille Salis-Seewis, puis il a été acheté par Johann Parli von Flims et en 1893 par le capitaine Mattli-Bavier. En 1848, il est entré en possession de la municipalité de Flims, qui l’a d’abord utilisé comme presbytère. Aujourd’hui, il sert de salle paroissiale. Les chambres individuelles sont ouvertes au public.
