L’Aquila ['la:kwila] est une ville italienne d'environ 69 400 habitants, chef-lieu de la province homonyme et capitale de la région des Abruzzes.
Fondée au Moyen Âge et située dans une région à forte activité sismique au centre de la péninsule italienne, elle a été endommagée par deux tremblements de terre au XVIIIe siècle, et partiellement détruite par un violent séisme survenu le 6 avril 2009.
