L'operazione Dynamo , conosciuta anche come "miracolo di Dunkerque" o "evacuazione di Dunkerque", fu un'operazione di evacuazione navale su larga scala delle forze Alleate che ebbe luogo dal 27 maggio al 4 giugno 1940, dopo che le truppe britanniche della British Expeditionary Force assieme alle forze franco-belghe erano state tagliate fuori e circondate dalle unità corazzate tedesche giunte sulle coste della Manica a seguito del riuscito sfondamento del fronte sulla Mosa. Si trattò del momento culminante e finale della cosiddetta battaglia di Dunkerque, presso il confine tra Francia e Belgio. Dato il completo isolamento via terra di queste truppe , l'unica via di salvezza era la fuga in Inghilterra attraverso il trasporto via mare con unità navali di qualsiasi tipo.
