Bornholm [-ˈhɔlm] ist zusammen mit sechs unbewohnten kleinen Nebeninseln die östlichste Insel und Gemeinde Dänemarks. Die Ostseeinsel liegt zwischen dem schwedischen Schonen und der polnischen Woiwodschaft Westpommern, etwa 150 km südöstlich von Kopenhagen und 80 km nordöstlich von Rügen. Die Südküste Schonens ist etwa 40 km entfernt. Die Insel hat 39.499 Bewohner , die teilweise Bornholmsk, einen ostdänisch-schonischen Dialekt sprechen.
Die nahegelegenen Schäreninseln Christiansø und Frederiksø gehören zu keiner Kommune, sondern werden als einzige Gebiete Dänemarks direkt vom Verteidigungsministerium verwaltet. Sie bilden jedoch zusammen mit Bornholm einen Landsdel , den Landsdel Bornholm.
