1961, the village of Hay-On-Wye, located along the river Wye became the
bookvillage of Wales.
It is comparable with the Dutch village of Bredevoort and the Belgian village of Redu. Wherever you are in the village, there is a bookshop. Today, there are 35 bookshops and more than 1 million books.
