Der Caumasee liegt im unbewohnten Südteil der Gemeinde Flims im Schweizer Kanton Graubünden. Er liegt mit jahreszeitlich schwankendem Pegel auf zirka 997 m Höhe und wird mit einer eigens dazu gebauten Standseilbahn erschlossen.
Die Bedeutung des Namens leitet sich vom griechisch-lateinischen cauma, was so viel bedeutet wie ‚Sonnenhitze‘. Im Romanischen bezeichnet es auch den Rastplatz des Viehs über die Mittagszeit, also bei Sonnenhitze. Das Wort hat jedoch auch die Bedeutung von ‚Schlafstätte‘. «Caumasee» lässt sich also am ehesten mit ‚See der Mittagsruhe‘ übersetzen.
