St. Martin's Church Gronsveld
Shortly after the first mention of the church in 1281, the marlstone tower was erected, which was raised in the 15th or 16th century. In 1579 the church was set on fire. In 1690-1699, the tower and choir were rebuilt, with the vault having collapsed in 1657, followed in classicist forms with an articulation of Doric pilasters of marlstone. In 1982 another restoration took place. In 2005 a major restoration of the interior took place. In 1711, the famous Liège organ builder Philippe le Picard built a three-manual organ for this church. Afterwards this organ was modified several times and restored in 1974.
The church square of Gronsveld is one of the few squares in the Netherlands where the church, presbytery, school and castle are located so close to each other. During the renovation of the primary school at the rear of the church, the characteristic façade from around 1900 was preserved.
