Cycling along modern architecture in Zwolle

If you have already discovered Zwolle, you usually think of the landmark de Peperbus, around which a beautiful historic city center has been built. But few have discovered Zwolle as a city where more recent architecture can also be enjoyed, which is why I am very happy with the publication of this Architecture Cycle Route. After the construction of the medieval center, the city continued to develop and renew, sometimes conforming to the old architectural styles, sometimes in a completely contemporary way, where contemporary in 1900 turns out very differently from contemporary in 2000. In such a small city as Zwolle, this will always give rise to discussion, because just like elsewhere, buildings are trusted and accepted if they have built up a patina layer through this dust of time and the architecture has rooted itself in the collective memory. Despite these discussions, enough buildings have been erected in Zwolle in recent decades that the inhabitants are proud of.

Be that as it may, the most important characteristic of architecture is that the buildings evoke emotions and spark discussions. And so do the buildings where the Architecture Cycle Route takes you. Another important element of this route is that it has to be cycled, so you have enough time and attention for what you see. But do you also step off every now and then and enter one of the objects, architecture is not just the outside and the proud users will be happy to let you in.
