The Krasae cave was situated in a bend of the Khwae Noi River at the beginning of the wooden Wampo viaduct. The cave was used as an air raid shelter by the Japanese in world war II and contains presently a Buddha image.
Picture: Members of the Military History Field Team are standing on a section of the Wampo viaduct, looking upstream at the Kwae Noi river. Behind them is the entrance to a very large cave which the Japanese used both as an air-raid shelter and a store. This cave is still accessible, being located alongside the last section of the viaduct (northern end). It is easily reached by walking back along the railway track on the viaduct.
