La Catedral de San Pedro de Jaca o Seo de San Pedro de Jaca[1] ,[2] cabeza de la diócesis de Jaca, es una de las construcciones más características y antiguas del románico en España.[3] Comenzó a construirse casi al mismo tiempo que la de Santiago de Compostela en el último cuarto del siglo XI a iniciativa del rey Sancho Ramírez, que, con motivo de su viaje a Roma en 1068, había colocado su reino bajo vasallaje del papa, a la sazón Alejandro II.[4] Por este motivo el pontífice le concedió la sede episcopal de Jaca, como cabeza religiosa y política de su incipiente reino.[5][6]
