Sous l'impulsion du président de la fabrique d'église, Victor Dufays, professeur d'architecture civil à l'université de Louvain, les architectes Léon Guiannotte et André Watteyne commencèrent la construction de l'église Saint Augustin à Forest en 1928.
L'église est construite sur la Place de l'Altitude Cent à Forest et a été consacrée en 1936. Les huit rues du quartier montent toutes vers l'église.
L'église est construite en béton armé et est un exemple typique de la relance de l'architecture religieux pendant l'entre-deux-guerres.
