La cathédrale Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Lambert fut la cathédrale de Liège jusqu'en 1794, date du début de sa destruction. Cette immense cathédrale gothique, à la mémoire de saint Lambert, occupait l'actuelle place Saint-Lambert, au cœur de Liège. Avec ses deux chœurs, ses deux transepts, ses trois nefs à trois étages, le circuit de ses chapelles absidales et collatérales, son cloître et ses annexes, et sa flèche de 135 mètres, la cathédrale Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Lambert faisait partie des grands vaisseaux du monde occidental au Moyen Âge et était le monument majeur du gothique mosan. Elle pouvait contenir 4 000 personnes.
