La rivière Saint-Maurice, aussi appelée simplement le Saint-Maurice , est située en Mauricie sur la rive nord du fleuve Saint-Laurent, au Québec, au Canada, dont elle est l'un des plus importants affluents.
Le nom d'origine de la rivière était la « Métabéroutin », nom donné par les Algonquins, qui signifie « décharge du vent », et pour leur part, les Attikameks de la Haute-Mauricie l'appellent encore « Tapiskwan Sipi », la « rivière de l'enfilée d'aiguille ». Les Abénaquis la nomment quant à eux « Madôbaladenitekw », soit la « rivière qui finit ». On trouve aussi l'orthographe « Maitabirosine » dans quelques documents du XVIIIe siècle.
