La bataille du Puig de Cebolla se déroule le 15 août 1237 dans le cadre de la Reconquista. Il s'agit de la prise du château du même nom , situé à environ 15 km de Valence. Le roi d'Aragon Jacques Ier reconstruit la forteresse après sa prise et la transforme en base pour la reconquête du royaume de Valence . Il fait également édifier à proximité un monastère mercédaire qu'il nomme Santa María del Puig .
