La Tate Britain , appelé Tate Galerie jusqu'en 2000 est l'un des musées du réseau Tate avec la Tate Modern, la Tate Liverpool et la Tate St Ives. Elle est située sur le site d'une ancienne prison à Millbank.
La façade du bâtiment est de Sidney R. J. Smith avec un portique classique et un dôme derrière. La construction a débuté en 1893 et la galerie fut ouverte le 21 juillet 1897 sous le nom de National Gallery of British Art et s'est agrandie plusieurs fois depuis. La sculpture centrale est signée John Russell Pope. De 1932 jusqu'à 2000 la galerie était nommée Tate Gallery.
