La val di Landro è una valle alpina, che collega Dobbiaco a Cortina d'Ampezzo o Misurina, o più precisamente la val Pusteria con il Cadore o l'Ampezzano, caratterizzata da una relativamente scarsa presenza di opere umane.
Il toponimo tedesco deriva con tutta probabilità da Höllental o Hölltal, una piccola valle laterale sulla sinistra orografica della valle di Landro: la Valchiara.
