La Torre del Mangia si trova in piazza del Campo a Siena; è la torre civica del palazzo Comunale. È tra le torri antiche italiane più alte , arrivando a 88 metri all'altezza degli ultimi merli. Secondo quanto scritto da Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli, la Torre del Mangia, pur partendo da una levatura del terreno più bassa, raggiunge la stessa altezza del campanile del Duomo di Siena, questo per simboleggiare il raggiunto equilibrio tra il potere celeste e quello terreno, senza che nessuno dei due superi e si imponga sull'altro.
