La battaglia di Bunker Hill ebbe luogo il 17 giugno 1775, principalmente in cima e attorno alla collina Breed's Hill, durante l'assedio di Boston, nelle fasi iniziali della guerra di indipendenza americana. La battaglia prende il nome dalla collina adiacente, Bunker Hill, poco coinvolta negli scontri ma che era l'obiettivo originale di entrambi gli schieramenti.
Il 13 giugno 1775, i leader delle forze coloniali assedianti Boston, vennero a conoscenza che i generali britannici stavano pianificando di inviare delle truppe ad occupare le colline abbandonate attorno alla città. I coloniali inviarono quindi 1 200 soldati che, sotto il comando di William Prescott, silenziosamente occuparono le colline Bunker Hill e Breed's Hill, costruendo sull'ultima una ridotta in terra e diverse linee fortificate lungo tutta la penisola di Charlestown.
