El convent està situat a la plaça dels Comtes de Priego.
Aquest monestir va ser fundat l'any 1491 per Marina de Villaseca. L'espai claustral està format per l'església, que es va acabar l'any 1576 , mentre que altres edificis del conjunt, com la sagristia, daten del segle XVII.
L' entrada al conjunt monàstic es fa per una zona enjardinada, sobre la qual s'obren els portals de l'església i la sagristia. L'església és de planta rectangular d'una sola nau. La capella major està separada de la nau per una reixa. Està cobert de relleus, entre ells un de Pedro Roldán que representa la Visitació.
Durant la guerra civil va patir diversos bombardejos , de manera que el març de 1938 les autoritats militars van llançar un concurs per a reparacions urgents a causa de la ruïna imminent.
