Espirà de l'Aglí és un poble, cap de la comuna del mateix nom, de 3.348 habitants, de la comarca del Rosselló, a la Catalunya del Nord.Joan Coromines explica que Espirà és un dels topònims catalans que procedeixen de la colonització romana, ja que indica el nom del colon romà que ocupà el lloc. Procedeix del nom propi llatí Asperius, a través de l'adjectiu derivat seu, Asperianu. La segona part del nom del poble és degut a la seva situació ran de l'Aglí, en bona part per tal de diferenciar-lo d'Espirà de Conflent.
