Corint va ser una ciutat estat ubicada a l'istme de Corint, l'estreta franja de terra que uneix el Peloponès amb la Grècia continental, a mig camí entre Atenes i Esparta. La ciutat moderna de Corint es troba a aproximadament 5 km al nord-est de les ruïnes antigues. Des del 1896, excavacions arqueològiques sistemàtiques de Corint dutes a terme per l'American School of Classical Studies at Athens han revelat grans parts de la ciutat antiga i investigacions recents dirigides pel Ministeri de Cultura grec han il·lustrat importants facetes noves sobre l'Antiguitat.
