Verona és una ciutat del Vèneto a Itàlia, capital de la província de Verona, amb 260.000 habitants. És a la riba del riu Adige , al peu del Lessini, a l'entrada de la plana d'un dels passos més importants dels Alps, el del Brenner. El nucli antic conserva un aspecte medieval i és a l'oest del riu. El seu nom podria derivar del protocelta "Var" o "Ver" que vol dir font. Verona és una ciutat monumental i alhora amb molt d'encant per al visitant. Compta amb el tercer amfiteatre romà més gran del món, l'Arena di Verona, així com algunes de les places més belles del Vèneto. És mundialment famosa per ser la ciutat on se situa la tragèdia de Shakespeare Romeu i Julieta. L'any 2000 fou declarada Patrimoni de la Humanitat per la UNESCO.
