Det ligger i Klagenfurt-bassinet ved B 95 Turracher Straße motorvejen, nordvest for delstatshovedstaden. Mod syd grænser Moosburg op til kommunerne Pörtschach og Krumpendorf, som begge er populære badesteder ved den nordlige kyst af Wörth Sø. Den nærliggende Süd Autobahn kan nås via Pörtschach og Krumpendorf tilslutningerne. Det gamle højdyske navn moos henviser til flere sumpe og damme omkring bosættelsen, rester fra den sidste istid og i dag et beskyttet område.
