Stedet Scheffau ligger ved foden af naturreservatet Wilder Kaiser på 752 meters højde i Sölllandl. Kommunens område gennemstrømmes mod syd af Weißache i 660 til 700 meters højde over havets overflade. Mod nordøst stiger landet først fladt og derefter stejlere op mod den vestlige kam af Wilden Kaiser over 2000 meter. Mod vest ligger Hintersteiner See på 883 meters højde. Nordpå falder det blidt ned mod Gaisbach, der danner den nordlige kommunegrænse.
