Sankt Peter Kloster havde allerede i det 15. århundrede en forslagsbelægning af ti klokker fra Leenknecht. Ifølge listen fra brødrene fra Halle kunne klosteret i 1658 prale af en betydelig klokkespil på 34.544 pund. Giveren deraf er ukendt. Klokkespillet blev spillet af munke fra klosteret. I det 18. århundrede syntes der at komme en ændring i dette. Jan Thibaut, klokkespiller ved Sankt Baafs Katedral, blev i 1761 også klokkespiller ved Sankt Peter Kloster. I 1771 blev han efterfulgt af organisten Latour. F. J. A. Mertyn, som også var organist, blev klokkespiller ved klosteret indtil 1797. Da blev tårnet tømt af republikanerne. Dette betød den endelige afslutning på klosterets klokkespil.
