Så højt på kanten af en stor klippeformation, der synes at slikke en bugt af Lesse, har Walzin-slottet altid været i stand til at kærkomme sanserne.
Også Victor Hugo's sanser, der i 1863 nedskrev et smukt billede af det.
Da det først blev bygget fra det 13. århundrede, er middelalderen stadig svært at finde her. Kun hjørnetårnet i hesteskoform (15. århundrede) og de fire kanonernes åbninger minder om denne periode.
Resten af bygningen blev gennemgribende ændret, især mellem 1930 og 1932. Man besluttede at holde sig til en traditionel arkitektur og anvende den samme stil overalt.
Men mere end selve arkitekturen er det især den naturlige omgivelser omkring slottet, der virkelig forbliver exceptionel.
