Den delkommune har et areal på 4,60 km² og havde ved ophævelsen som kommune i 1977 omkring 900 indbyggere.
Ternaaien ligger i den nordlige del af kommunen Wezet på venstre bred af Maas. Via cykel- og fodfærgen Cramignon er landsbyen fra april til og med oktober forbundet med den hollandske Eijsden på højre bred. Albertkanalen ligger et par hundrede meter vest for landsbyens centrum.
