Du er ankommet til kanten af naturreservatet 'het Spei'. I 1988 plantede skolebørn fra Oudenaarde en blandet løvskov her. I de følgende år begyndte den kommunale miljøafdeling også at forvalte de tilstødende parceller. Rækker af lebendige træer, bevoksede og hækbelagte vejkasser, buskede hegn, standardfrugttræer og amfibiepools karakteriserer landskabet i dag. Engen bliver kun slået to gange om året for at give faunaen og floren rig mulighed for at vokse.
