Selv forbi kirken i Landskouter står monumentet, der er opført i Balegem-sten, til ære for faderen Frans Van De Velde, der blev født her i 1909. 'Ataata Vinivi', som inuitterne kaldte ham, opholdt sig i den canadiske arktis fra 1937 til 1987. Monumentet blev afsløret i 1981.
