Den europæiske vej 40 eller E40 er en europæisk vej af typen "referencevej med vest-øst orientering", der strækker sig fra Calais i Nordfrankrig til Ridder i Kasakhstan, ikke langt fra grænsen til Mongoliet og Kina. Med sin samlede længde på 8778 km er den den længste af de europæiske veje. Den løber gennem Frankrig, Belgien, Tyskland, Polen, Ukraine, Rusland, Usbekistan, Turkmenske, Kirgisistan og Kasakhstan.
