Området af kommunen Schaalby strækker sig i den sydlige del af halvøen Angeln ved den nordlige kyst af Østersøbugten Schlei. Det ligger nordøst for dens del Kleine Breite og nordvest for Großen Breite. I det førstnævnte udmunder Füsinger Au i kommuneområdet. Kommunens område strækker sig ind i Schlei. Den i Großen Breite beliggende ø Hestholm ligger inden for kommunens grænser.
